Amica S.A. is the largest Polish manufacturer of household appliances and one of the top companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in terms of recognition. Despite increasing foreign competition, Amica remains the leader in the Polish market with a share of 18 percent. More than half of Polish homes feature at least one Amica appliance, and recognition of the Amica brand is consistently recorded at around the 87 percent level. Amica products are associated with useful technology and modern design. Customers know they can rely on Amica. Our dominance in the kitchen is also confirmed by increasing popularity in the category of small household appliances.
In 2014, Amica Group's revenue exceeded PLN 2 billion. The aim of the HIT2023 strategy is to achieve EUR 1.2 billion in sales revenue and to generate EBITDA of 107 million by 2023. The company's capitalisation exceeded PLN 1.4 billion in November 2015.
The Amica Group generates more than 70 percent of its revenue from sales on over 50 global markets. The company is most popular in Germany, Great Britain and Scandinavia. The Amica Group portfolio also includes the international brands Gram, Hansa and CDA. Gram, which was established in 1899 and acquired by Amica in 2001, is a traditional and prestigious Denmark-based brand known throughout Scandinavia. Hansa, which is a brand associated with reliable technology, is very popular on the Eastern European markets. CDA, a British brand acquired in 2015, enjoys superb recognition in such distribution channels as design studios for kitchen furniture. The group employs approximately 2,500 people at its plants and offices in Poland and abroad.
Global recognition has also been confirmed by prestigious awards presented by international institutions. In 2012, Amica's Zen-line oven earned it the greatest honour of the design world. Red Dot Design Award: Best of the Best – the only device designed and manufactured in Poland ever to have been awarded this title.
The Red-Dot Design award, which is the world's biggest design competition, attracts nearly twelve thousand entrants from more than sixty countries. Two years earlier, in 2010, our Integra Smart oven received the Red Dot Design Award: Honourable Mention. In the same year, Get Connected, a British magazine, named the Integra Smart Oven its product of 2010. The new Amica IN. line received two awards in 2015: the Red Dot Award and the iF Design Award.
The tradition of entrepreneurship in Wronki, where in 1957 the company produced its first gas-coal stove, dates back to 1945. During its first period on the market the company improved its range of heating equipment and thereby gained the trust of Polish customers. In subsequent decades we gradually expanded our range with products that simplify everyday household chores.
But the biggest investments came after the political transformation following 1989. It was then that the company began to grow at a very rapid pace. Further milestones passed by Amica, which is one of the most innovative businesses in East-Central Europe, included introducing the Amica logo, privatising the company, purchasing new machines, developing new production halls and its listing on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
The most spectacular transaction yet completed by the Amica Group was the acquisition of a British commercial company, CDA Group Ltd, in November 2015. Owing to the acquisition, the Amica Group increased its revenue fourfold on the British market in 2015 and greatly strengthened its position on Europe's second largest household-appliance market.
The Amica Group's total revenues have increased almost 20 times over the last twenty years: in 1995 the company recorded revenue of USD 40 million and is on target to record revenue of USD 750 million for 2015.
Today, Amica offers a full range of intelligent large and small household appliances. Whether we are thinking of free-standing or built-in appliances, sixty years of customer dialogue has enabled Amica to continuously adapt its equipment to satisfy the needs and expectations of today's customers. But the company's history does not end there: the best is still ahead.
